EXPOSITION "LE PLAISIR DU TRAIT"

This summer, the Rieux-Volvestre Municipal Gallery is hosting a group exhibition entitled ‘The Pleasure of the Line’. Four artists invite you to embark on a journey to the East through their paintings: from 11 July to 30 August.

Hassan and Hussein Kourdi were born in Aleppo, Syria, and grew up in a family with a passion for all forms of art. They are graduates of the Aleppo School of Fine Arts and have been practising Oriental calligraphy since 1982. As all-round artists, they have remained true to their artistic tradition. They currently live in France, which they regard as the home of multicultural arts. Their artistic sensibility has enabled them to bridge the gap between Oriental calligraphy and the more modern approach of contemporary schools.

Ahmad Abou Nayef is a painter and calligrapher. He studied art in Aleppo, Syria. He lives and works in Kuwait. He has taken part in numerous exhibitions.

Fatima Zouaoui is a self-taught visual artist. For several years, she has been practising painting, sculpture and land art. Her techniques combine materials and colours from which she draws her inspiration, creating a highly personal, dreamlike and poetic world. She has exhibited her works at various cultural events and fairs alongside numerous professionals and amateurs.

The opening will take place on Saturday 18 July at 12 noon. Please do come along and meet the artists, who will be delighted to chat about their work and their sources of inspiration.
