STAGE DANSES ET PERCUSSIONS D'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST
L'Univers Danse invites you to its West African dance and percussion workshop!
Organised by Univers Danse.
On Sunday 8 November 2026, a workshop organised by Univers Danse will take place in Montesquieu-Volvestre.
Come and join us or discover what we’re all about!
Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced dancer.
PERCUSSION: West African percussion is played using polyrhythms. This means that each ‘drum’ plays a part of the rhythm, distinct from the others, and together they create the overall rhythm. We therefore rotate participants amongst the various instruments in the West African drum set. PLACES LIMITED TO 6 PEOPLE
DANCE: These are dynamic, energetic and artistic dances. In relation to the rhythm covered, we’ll explore its cultural context, the songs associated with that rhythm, and the dance movements from its repertoire. (Mainly the Malinké and Sousou ethnic groups).
LIVE MUSICIANS!
Practical information:
- Polyrhythmic percussion from 11.00 to 13.00 for €30
- Dance from 14.00 to 17.00 for €30
- Full day: €50
- Booking essential on 07 53 36 54 38 or via the L’Univers Danse Facebook page.
